1. Dig Hole 24 inches deep (12" below frostline) |
2. Add 4 inches of pea gravel for proper drainage
3. 6 inches of 12" wide sono tube for footing
4. 16 inches of 8" wide sono tube for pier
|
|
|
5. Place rebar in base of footing (no 12" sono
tube here because hole was 12" across. So we brought 8"
sono tube up above pea gravel about 6 inches. |
6. Mix concrete (approx. 1 1/2 bags per hole) and pour until halfway
up sono tube.
7. Insert "L" shaped rebar then finish concrete to top
of sono tube.

8. After 1 hour (less if hot day) insert 4x4 post bracket.
9. Pour another 6" of pea gravel for drainage.
|
10. Backfill with dirt and tamp down every few inches
until
filled to top of sono tube. |

Add additional Pier Blocks for interim support for run of over
6 feet.

of 1/2 inch plywood sandwiched between for even more strength. |
